Workshop creating stars for the Alborada

    Joaquín Sierra Rangel, coordinator of the Alborada, invites citizens to the workshop of making stars which are used during the Alborada and the Review of the Alborada. The workshop will be Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the home of Don Emigdio Ledesma.

    Currently Joaquín Sierra is the coordinator of the Alborada and that is why he extended the invitation to citizens: “Today starts workshop to develop the stars of the Alborada 2023, starting at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, later it will be Tuesday and Thursday at the same time, the workshops are free, the Stars will be lent to them to participate in the review and in the Alborada. It is not necessary to bring materials, maybe a cutter nothing more.”

    The stars are made with china paper of different colors, wooden sticks and thread, are used during the Alborada. The dawn is a tradition that was born in the city of Hercules, Querétaro and was later taken to Salvatierra to be introduced in 1924 to San Miguel de Allende for the celebrations to the Immaculate Conception.

    The images of the Alborada are: the eyes of Saint Lucia, The Seven Cabrillas, the comet, the sun, the moon, the stars and the three Birds of Mary.

    The workshop will be held every Tuesday and Thursday starting today, August 17 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Privada de la Aurora #9.

    Finally, Joaquín highlighted the importance of citizen participation in the patron saint festivities: “We appreciate the valuable participation of citizens for the preservation of our traditions and that the celebration in honor of San Miguel Arcángel goes in the best way.”
