Guanajuato expecting more than 1.4 million visitors for the holidays

    More than 1.4 million visitors will arrive in the State of Guanajuato to celebrate the holidays. From December 16, 2022 to January 8, 2023, León, Guanajuato capital and San Miguel de Allende will be the most visited destinations.

    The Ministry of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, through the Tourism Observatory (OTEG), also estimated that during this time – which includes Christmas, New Year and Three Kings Day – the entity expects to receive more than 300 thousand tourists to hotels in the State with an average occupancy of more than 183 thousand rooms, and an economic spill of 3 thousand 138 million pesos.

    In this time of joy, peace, solidarity and family unity, Guanajuato -one of the central states of the Mexican Republic- offers history, culture, traditions, emblematic sites; as well as unique products in Mexico and experiences of romance, MICE, nature, wine, distillates, wellness, culture, gastronomy and sports in the 46 municipalities of the State.

    During these 24 days of holiday season, the municipality of León expects to receive 292 thousand visitors, 73 thousand tourists and a hotel occupancy percentage of 28%; Guanajuato capital will present an occupation of 43% with the arrival of 64 thousand tourists, and expects to receive more than 174 thousand visitors; San Miguel de Allende is forecast to see the arrival of 145,000 visitors, 50,000 tourists and an occupancy rate of 41%.

    These destinations, as well as the 6 Magical Towns: Dolores Hidalgo CIN, Salvatierra, Jalpa de Cánovas, Mineral de Pozos, Yuriria and Comonfort offer various architectural and natural shows; and lodging, food and transportation services.

    Since Guanajuato borders to the west with the state of Jalisco, to the north with Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí, to the east with the state of Querétaro and to the south with the state of Michoacán, inhabitants of these destinations are the ones who most visit the attractions of the Guanajuato.
