They will present a proposal to place one in the municipality
Not only the municipality of Silao but San Miguel de Allende could also have a cable car, since the Austrian company Doppelmayr, which specializes in this type of work and even executed the Cable Bus project in Mexico City, will present a proposal to the municipality.
This was announced by the Mayor of Silao, Carlos Garcia Villaseñor, due to the fact that this Friday a meeting will be held between executives of the company, state authorities, and authorities of the municipality, to agree on the Silao cable car that would connect the Sanctuary of Christ the King with the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park.
“There is a project to generate a cable car in Guanajuato and another in San Miguel de Allende.
In San Miguel de Allende we would try to take the cable car from where the plazas are at the exit to Queretaro and bring it down to the center of the city where there are times when San Miguel de Allende is very complicated due to traffic and that would be an important relief,” said Carlos Garcia.
Regarding the project for Silao, the project has an investment of one billion pesos and the representatives of the development company have said they are so confident of its feasibility that they would be willing to finance it themselves.
“This Friday the CEO of Doppelmayr will be here and we are going to have a meeting with the State Government, as well as with people from the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of Tourism since this Friday the financial proposal will be presented and I hope that this Friday we can make decisions on when and how we start the project”, he added.
This project, besides being a viable alternative as a means of transportation, would also be a viable alternative for the detonation of tourism in Silao, since the Sanctuary of Cristo Rey receives 2.5 million visitors each year and with the arrival of the cable car it would increase up to twice as much.
