Second edition of the Festival of Arts in San Miguel de Allende

    From August 4 to 20, the City of San Miguel de Allende, will host the second edition of the Festival of the Arts (FASMA), presenting more than one hundred cultural events.

    During each edition the Festival of the Arts of San Miguel de Allende has the honor of receiving a guest country to show its culture; in this 2023, Austria will be the country that through performances of musical works, film cycles and conferences shows its cultural wealth.

    The festival program is very varied: workshops and exhibitions of art, classical music, theater, dance, international cinema, conferences with outstanding writers, activities and classes for children and much more. It should be noted that participants include renowned artists and performers from all over the world.

    Many FASMA events will be free to the public, while others will be affordably priced, aiming for inclusivity and multiculturalism. In addition, hotels and restaurants will offer special rates and discounts during the festival to encourage visitor attendance.

    With this festival, San Miguel de Allende is consolidated as The Cultural Destination of America; more than 30 cultural organizations that add decades of experience among them: Festival de Música de Cámara de San Miguel de Allende that is now 45 years old, Opera San Miguel, Seminario de Cultura Mexicana corresponsalía San Miguel, San Miguel Writers’ Conference, Instituto Allende or the UNAM extension San Miguel, the bilingual theater company La Troupe México to mention some of them. Thanks to the support of the municipal and state governments, the festival is able to fulfill its mission of offering a wide variety of cultural experiences to San Miguel residents and visitors each summer.

    During the press conference was present on behalf of the Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Eng. Francisco Javier Valverde Polín, General Director of Tourism Development; Also present were the Director of the San Miguel de Allende Arts Festival, Eduardo Adame Goddard; Executive Director of the Festival de Música de Cámara A.C., Luis Eduardo Quezada Bárcenas; Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Mexico, Lorenz Brunner and the President of Ópera de San Miguel, Charles H. Oppenheim.
