Historic Walking Tours of San Miguel benefiting Patronato pro Niños - May 3, 2024

Tours are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting at 10:00 am:  we gather in the Jardin in front of the Parroquia at around 9:30.  You will be walking for about 2.5 hours, primarily outdoors on the charming cobblestone streets of downtown San Miguel.  Space is limited to a group of 10 to 20,  the tours will be on a first come first served basis,  but we hope to accommodate any extras at another time or date. Your donation of 400 pesos will gratefully be taken onsite.

This website, dedicated to the Tours,  was relaunched in April of this year with new, up to date features like a Chat function, and brief highlight videos.   Alix Nicoll, Board Liaison for the Walking Tours enthuses:  “We offer just a taste of the Tour through three short but informative presentations about San Miguel’s past. And some of the arial photography of these locations is just spectacular”.  Your enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers are Peggy Jones (Las Monjas), Patrick Greene (Casa des la Conspiración) and Tim Hawkins (Plaza Civica).

On this tour, English-speaking guides walk participants through San Miguel’s glorious past, showing them the city center, its historical buildings and many churches. The tour, which includes an in-depth look at the interior of the Parroquia, takes approximately two hours and covers a ten-block area. It’s a definite “must” for any visitor to San Miguel!

REGULARLY SCHEDULED WALKING TOURS take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Groups meet in the Jardin across from the Parroquia (large church) at 9:45 AM, and leave promptly at 10:00 AM. Cost: $400 pesos.  The tour will last 2 1/2 hours.

Each contribution to the walking tour supports the work of Patronato Pro Niños and has since 1970.  Revenue from the tours contributes significantly to the yearly budget of the organization.

PRIVATE TOURS AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH & SPANISH

Private, Architectural and Church tours can be booked on line and prepaid by credit card and scheduled for a mutually agreeable time – $2000 pesos for the first 4 and $500 pesos for any additional guests.
