    The Bossa Nova is a popular Brazilian musical genre derived from Samba and with a strong influence of Jazz. It emerged in the late fifties thanks to musicians such as João Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Moraes and other middle-class singers and composers from the south of Rio de Janeiro.
