I had dinner tonight at El Faro restaurant — Ancha de San Antonio 30, on the same side of the street and between the Instituto and Cardo. It was absolutely delicious. We had a smoked marlin tostada to start and then we all wanted their camarones rellenos – shrimp stuffed with cream-based things and wrapped with crunchy bacon. All wonderful. Great cheesecake for dessert even if a little too cold (probably not enough people in the restaurant to justify thawing it out longer). Prices medium. They were setting up for live music and dancing as we were leaving, so if you don’t like that go earlier — if you do, go around 7:30 or 8. I don’t know what nights they have live music, but the food was marvelous. This is a place that deserves to survive in this ultra-competitive restaurant town.
