The concert “Amor de Mexicana”, performed by Morganna Love with the Philharmonic Orchestra, will be presented on May 17 at the emblematic National Theater of San Salvador, as part of the Equal Opportunities Week organized by the French Embassy and the United Nations, with the aim of promoting respect for human rights, gender equality, and sexual diversity.

    WHO IS MORGANNA LOVE?

She is a soprano singer, actress, and transgender activist, originally from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. She was born on June 15, 1980, and from a very early age, she had an approach to music, taking singing lessons since she was eight years old. Adolescence was perhaps the most difficult stage for Morganna, as she knew that her body did not match her feminine identity.

In an interview with La Prensa Gráfica, Morganna describes herself as “a Mexican woman who expresses her feelings through art, who has struggled to be happy, fulfilled and successful, understanding success as doing every day what you love to do”.

She began her musical training at the School of Music of the University of Guanajuato. She then settled in Mexico City and entered the National Conservatory of Music graduating as an opera singer, where she learned everything related to the history of art and music, musical genres, stage development, harmony, counterpoint, and languages. She belonged to the opera company LIEM.

It was not until she turned 28 that she began her transition process, a crucial part of her professional career.

    MORGANNA’S REBIRTH

In 2012, Argentine filmmaker Flavio Florencio captured Morganna’s gender transition in a documentary titled “Made in Bangkok”, which tells how in order to try to get the money for her gender reassignment surgery, Morganna decided to participate in the “Miss International Queen” trans beauty pageant in Thailand. She didn’t manage to win, but eventually, she was able to transition, and since the release of the documentary in 2015, Morgana gained recognition as an artist and started her career towards success.

Finally, Morganna was able to become what she truly is: a woman.

She has achieved success in her career and fulfillment in her life, her undisputed talent, beauty, and resilience are proof of that. “I am a woman finally, who has achieved her dreams, to be fulfilled and have inner peace,” confesses Love.

MORGANNA’S MESSAGE OF LOVE AND HOPE

As a trans woman, Morganna has faced stigmatization, discrimination, and rejection, but that hasn’t stopped her from succeeding. She has worked in film, television, dubbing, published an autobiographical book and released an album, and is an activist for the United Nations “Free and Equal” campaign.

“I think we have had parallel paths and a lot to fight against ignorance, discrimination, phobias due to sexual orientation or identity. It is important that we stay the course, that we do not give up, and that we appeal to the love that every human being is called to give. Love is our most powerful weapon. Let us be patient, strong, and kind.” Morganna Love, a Mexican singer, and actress.
