Luis Alberto Villarreal acknowledges the great support of the Canadian Community

The municipal president Luis Alberto Villarreal García accompanied the president of the Pro Niños board of trustees David Winfield, the director Nory Contractor and the president of Amistad Canada Mark O’Neil, to present the 5th Mobile Medical and Dental Unit of this foundation that attends to children from San Miguel.

“On behalf of the people of San Miguel, we would like to thank them for two years of tireless work to bring this Mobile Medical and Dental Unit here. Through Patronato Pro Niños, it will allow us to help those who need it most, and attend to the most important causes that a human being has after life, which is to ensure his or her health. Thank you Canada, thank you San Miguel Canadians,” said the municipal Villarreal Garcia.

The acquisition of this Mobile Unit was achieved with an investment of 1,900,000 pesos, which were collected after two years of work between Patronato Pro Niños and Amistad Canada; the latter is an organization dedicated to collecting donations for the improvement of the quality of life of people living in vulnerable situations, supporting them with health, education and social justice programs.

Nory Contractor mentioned: “As we know there are many services here, but there are children who require medical and dental services and sometimes they do not have the means to move. But with these units we can make those services possible, bringing them the best possible care from doctors and dentists and of course a great team of drivers who also serve the unit as dental assistants.

President Luis Alberto Villarreal, recalled that Patronato Pro Niños was founded in 1970 by Maria de los Angeles Herrera de Williams and Stirling Dickinson, who visited the most vulnerable communities of San Miguel de Allende in their “Combi”, looking for children with important medical needs and helping them receive the necessary treatment through a team of volunteers. He recognized the great support that the foreign community has today and the love that they have for San Miguel de la Gente.
