Transit Commissioner asks tourist trams to ‘refrain from working’ because there are ‘a lot of people’ in the town

The trams that provide tourist tour services in San Miguel de Allende are being removed from the streets. The Commissioner of Transit, Jorge Salas Luna asked them to stop working.

The Commissioner of Transit sent the concessionaires of tourist tramst a letter saying that “from December 30 to January 3, 2022, REFRAIN FROM PROVIDING THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF TOURIST TRANSPORT ON THE ROADS” OF THE MUNICIPALITY.

The reasons of the Commissioner of Traffic is because they hinder walking the “narrow streets” of San Miguel de Allende and they also impede by prohibiting them from leaving, with that the official will guarantee “the relief of vehicular traffic”.

The same commissioner, the one who was dismissed in previous administrations for the complaints of harassment by elements of the corporation, asks those of the tourist transport to REFRAIN FROM WORKING because it is part of their strategies to “guarantee the safety of pedestrians through the narrow streets of this city”.

Until 3:00 in the afternoon, 5 units of the 12 existing ones went to the corralón. The traffic elements indicated that it was “for being poorly parked” and spoiling the passage, when the drivers say, that was the place they were asked to stop.

Martín Carrera, one of the concessionaires, said that the tourist transport service is governed through State Mobility and that they accessed a Mechanical magazine that the Municipality asked them “for being courtesy and maintaining a good relationship.”

“We didn’t have any signs and we tried to get out of the regulation we are of state transport and they have no authority to stop us.”
