For more than 14 years, Tacos Don Felix has been bringing some of the best service in the area. They started out with a taco truck on Avenida Independencia, where they served a variety of tacos: chicken in a green salsa, pork, chistorra, huitlacoche, shrimps, ribs, pastor and arrachera. Thanks to the great reception and demand from their customrs, they decided to move to an indoor location. Now they offer not only their great food, but also have a full bar. Giant margaritas are their specialty. The one in charge of the kitchen is Gloria Espinoza Briseño, who’s had experience cooking for more than 14 years. All her dishes are exquisitely flavored and are totally unique.
The menú includes enchiladas; volcanes (toasted tortilla with arrachera, grated cheese and sauteed onions); different cuts of beef, fish, salads, pastas, and tortilla soup. The house special are the enchiladas Gloria. They consist of four pieces; two with pork and two with chicken, with either red or green salsa, grated cheese and sour cream. As far as meat dishes, you can find the Don Diego, which is a filet medallion with mushroom sauce. There is also the filete a la Tampiqueña. This is a thin cut of beef with guacamole, rice and a side of an enchilada. On their menú you will always find salmon and shrimp in their salsa mágica (magic sauce) which consists of butter, cream, red wine, and fine herbs. Another specialty is the caña de filete de res (beef filet) which is a thick cut that comes with a side order of oven roasted potatoes and vegetables. They offer desserts as well and their specialty is flan with Khalua.
The margaritas, as we mentioned, are gigantic and come in many flavors—tradtional with limes, tamarind, or strawberry flavored. But you can also order micheladas; a great variety of tequila, brandy, rum, or mezcal margaritas. . Since four months ago, they have also begun serving breakfast on Sundays from 9am to 1pm. As a welcome, you are offered a churro and a sweet roll to go with your coffee.
