From San Miguel to Dolores: Get to know this wine route in Guanajuato

    Guanajuato offers different wine routes to its tourists, in which they can live unique experiences through the tasting of this beverage and the activities offered by each Guanajuato destination. The wine route from Dolores Hidalgo to San Miguel de Allende covers 76 linear kilometers and can be traveled in one or two days.

    Traveling along Federal Highway 51 and Federal Highway 110 you can find seven wineries, as well as complement your tour with a visit to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, known as “the Sistine Chapel of America” and of course visit the magical town of Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence.

    What to see?
    On this route, you will find the wineries that have been producing wine for the longest time, as well as the largest in terms of facilities and production. You can also visit the Lavender Project or the famous Spa Grotto of San Miguel de Allende; as well as the various attractive vineyards of the World Heritage City, some of them are:

    Cuna de Tierra.

    San Lucas. 

    Dos Búhos. 

    Leaving San Miguel in the direction of Dolores Hidalgo, at km 62, you will find the turnoff to Atotonilco, an essential stop, where you can visit its magnificent sanctuary, a viceregal parish from the middle of the 18th century, known as “the Sistine Chapel of America”.

    Traveling 35 kilometers you will reach Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, where you can visit the Mausoleum of José Alfredo Jiménez, the great composer of vernacular music; the main garden, the parish church, its historic cantinas and eat one of its famous “nieves” (ice creams).

    La Santísima Trinidad, in Dolores Hidalgo, has an extraordinary panoramic view of lavender fields and olive trees. The vineyard is located within a real estate development.
