Mayor Carlos Garcia Villaseñor confirmed to the municipality of Silao that the permits for the construction of the highway that will connect the city with San Miguel de Allende have been completed, and that the city’s proximity to Queretaro will bring important benefits in terms of strengthening alliances in industrial matters. When speaking about the status of this project, the Mayor recalled that according to the information provided by state authorities, the start-up of the work will take place at the end of this year.

The toll road will begin near the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park in the community of Los Rodriguez, as a continuation of Section II of the Silao Beltway. It will cross the vicinity of the Purisima Dam, pass near the Xoconostle and will end in the northern area of San Miguel de Allende.

“It will allow the flow of vehicles from the highway coming from San Luis Potosí, so that they don’t have to enter Silao, to take Highway 45 at Los Infantes…this will free up a lot of traffic on Emiliano Zapata Boulevard. It will be practically 30 minutes from here to San Miguel de Allende”, he pointed out.

He explained that the benefit for Silao will be twofold, since it will bring the municipality closer to the state of Querétaro, where industrial parks such as Jurica and Juriquilla are located, 15 minutes away from San Miguel de Allende.

What it will do is that this highway will link Silao with these industrial parks…70% of Silao’s automotive industry is in a direct conversion to electromobility. The electric part in automobiles uses the same language as aerospace, there will be a lot of exchange of suppliers”, he pointed out.

During the remainder of the six-year term, the section up to the Xoconostle community will be developed and, in the next administration, it will be completed up to San Miguel de Allende.

The Silao administration has already released the permits for the layout of the Eje Metropolitano section towards the connection with the General Motors assembly plant.
