The work on the Vado de la Cieneguita Bridge will be resumed in May.

The Undersecretary of Road Infrastructure of SICOM, Maura Mónica Rangel Aguilar, announced that already in early May they would be starting the bidding process to continue with the work in the second week and that it is expected that the last part of the bridge will be built in a time of 4 months.

It was on April 1, 2021, that Governor Diego Sinhué Rodríguez Vallejo started the work on the Cieneguita Bridge with the then Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Luis Alberto Villarreal, where it was said that the budget for the bridge would be 83 million pesos and that the work for the construction of the road bridge would last 209 days.

In September the work was halted because the water level in the river increased due to the rainy season (as stated by the Ministry of Infrastructure) and to date, the work has not been resumed.

SICOM is already announcing that the last stage will be resumed in the month of May and also, that there will be some adjustments in the budget, due to price changes in materials this year.

It will now be Mayor Mauricio Trejo Pureco’s turn to inaugurate this bridge, in late August if conditions are right since the rainy season is coming again.

The work was stopped when it was already 86% complete, an intermediate pile with two spans has yet to be placed, meanwhile, lamps, sidewalks, parabuses, and signage have been installed in the area, and several details have been painted as well.
