San Miguel de Allende to offer high-end tastings at vineyards

    Due to its tradition, gastronomy, art, and architecture, in addition to being declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2008 and awarded with several prizes such as Best City in the World 2018 & 2019 by Travel + Leisure, Best Small City in the World 2017 & 2020 by Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards; Top 20 Destinations by Forbes Magazine and others, San Miguel de Allende, in Guanajuato, is preparing a high-end cocktail event.

    The Barra Mexico 2021 event will be held from August 26 to 30 with the collaboration of the Government of Guanajuato, the San Miguel de Allende Tourism Council, and other brands, and is expected to reactivate the economy of the Mexican Bajio and various local industries.

    At the presentation, Laura Torres Septién-Torres, president of the San Miguel de Allende Tourism Council, said that “San Miguel de Allende is known for hosting the best events, that is why Barra Mexico chose us to hold its sixth edition, which will be the perfect complement to the wide range of hotels, restaurants, adventure experiences, romance, culture and much more; this experience is not only for cocktail aficionados but for all those who want to experience something different and unique in Latin America”.

    Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the state of Guanajuato, highlighted the diversity of tourism in the state: “Guanajuato has distinguished itself for hosting major events and is a favorite destination for its tourist diversity, hospitality and magnificent scenery. The gastronomic, wine tourism and distillates segments have been booming in recent years, positioning the state as one of the main national producers and generator of great stories for visitors, favoring the health of the attendees”.

    It should be noted that the event is the first with Climate Positive in the industry, to reduce the carbon footprint, since, through the Neutralízate initiative, it seeks to offset CO2 emissions in the transportation of guests, and will be compensated through the purchase of carbon sequestration certificates for the protection of forests in the state of Oaxaca.

    For the event, free transportation will be offered to the attendees of Villa Barra Mexico, all under a strict anti-covid security protocol to protect the health of the attendees and the city’s inhabitants.

    The event will be held in collaboration with the World Meetings Forum (WMF) Foundation and friendly to the LGBTTTIQ+ community, recognizing their role in the industry.

    The event has been designed to be a different experience for fine drinking lovers and industry professionals who will be able to taste exclusive products and novelties through activations, tasting areas, workshops, seminars, cocktail tours, live music, dinners, food and wine pairings, tastings and private experiences with national and international brands.

    From August 26 to 30, activations will take place in more than 30 spaces in San Miguel de Allende (bars, restaurants, terraces, gardens, art galleries, cafes, stores, and emblematic points of the city).

    Meanwhile, from August 27 to 29, the Villa Barra Mexico -in the San Lucas vineyard- will become the main venue and will feature the presence of 100 brands and offer 12 seminars and tastings. This space will also open the doors to a new and interesting conversation about the wine culture of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, placing them as worthy representatives at the international level.
