On March 22, Mauricio Trejo Pureco spoke for a second time at the Tuesday Rotary Midday Club meeting. Mauricio Trejo was first invited to speak at the Rotary meeting on September 7, 2021, before assuming office. At that meeting he discussed his plans for improving security, dealing with water and infrastructure issues, as well as rebuilding the economy of San Miguel during the COVID pandemic.

The then president-elect concluded by promising to return every few months and inform the Rotary Club and the foreign community of his progress and follow through on his campaign promises and governmental plans.

Mauricio Trejo Pureco, who for the second time occupies the municipal presidential seat of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, has proven to be a politician committed to establishing order, peace and well-being in San Miguel.

Before assuming the municipal presidency, he knew he would face several obstacles, one of them was financial scarcity as the outgoing administration had left few economic resources. In response Mauricio quickly started a pasted due tax collection plan, adhered to austerity, and has creatively faced the problem of scarce resources while waiting for the new 2022 budget that usually comes in the month of March.

The mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, has said in interviews that more than 25 subdivisions in this municipality have been suspended, until the feasibility of drinking water service is not fulfilled. Housing investment is welcome, but also that investment must be controlled and that it must comply with all the municipal regulations. Investments that are made on the fly or that are made loosely, in the short term are going to have gigantic problems. San Miguel is a World Heritage City and excessive growth can break that magic.

In regard to the water issue, the municipal president has said to guarantee the safe supply of water for the city the aquafer will be completed this year, this will guarantee water for the next 30 years.

Mauricio Trejo´s vision of tourism is that of a cultural one, that is to consolidate San Miguel de Allende as a tourist destination, not massive, but cultural, of visitors who appreciate and value the city.

San Miguel de Allende is a city always concerned about improving its security, and regarding an increase in robberies that occurred from 2020 to 2021, the mayor assured that it was a consequence of the poor security policies applied by the previous administration.

Regarding security he will soon present his integral Security Plan, which is focused on prevention, patrolling, improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in municipal and state government agencies.
