The Biblioteca Publica provides 102 High School and College scholarships to promising students. Funding comes from contributions and general funds. The Biblioteca selects young applicants with exceptional academic attainment who are from families where there are no high school or college role models and meager financial resources. These students often, live outside SMA city and have limited access to the internet, computers, and transportation.

Under the leadership of Bill and Kathryn Graham, a new approach will become the principal funding source for Scholarships. As Rotarians and US ex-pats appreciate, a scholarship’s cost is remarkably affordable, at $20 USD monthly for High School or $40 USD monthly for university for a year. And contributions are US tax-deductible!

The Grahams urge contributors to honor a family member, friend, employee, or special occasion event by naming an honoree when the donor pays for the Scholarship. Honorees are delighted to receive the recognition. The lives of the student and the student’s family are changed by the Scholarship. Thus, it truly is “The Gift of the Year that Changes Lives”.
