  • The Worst Women in the World comes to San Miguel de Allende to raise awareness about violence. The paper theater adaptation of the famous story by Francisco Hinojosa, is presented as part of FONCA’s 2019 Support Program for Projects for Children and Youth. It will offer two free performances and two workshops for children, via streaming

In the north of Turambul lived the worst of the worst ladies in the world, who terrorized her children and the whole town, until one day they managed to trick her into doing the best bad things in the world, that is what this play is about.

With the performances of Alejandro Benítez and Avelina Correa (also in charge of the theatrical adaptation), in 55 minutes we are told this story that teaches us that violence is not eradicated through more aggressiveness, but that there are other ways to achieve the changes we need.

As part of FONCA’s 2019 Program to Support Projects for Children and Youth, the companies Facto Teatro and Cuarto Rojo designed a program of two performances of La peor señora del mundo and two workshops related to the staging, its technique and contents, which provide an aesthetic and leisure experience, as well as tools for the generation of paper theater shows that can develop the artistic scene of the community on the one hand, and on the other, raise awareness among attendees about the violence that we sadly live and what can be done to combat it, which the inhabitants of San Miguel de Allende will now be able to enjoy.

The first activity that will take place is the “Paper Theater Technique” Workshop via zoom, from Monday May 3 to Friday May 7 from 11:00 to 13:00 hours. Those interested should send an email to el.sindicato.info@gmail.com or call 415 126 67 13 and to request information and register.

In the same way, in that mail they will be given information about the two performances of The Worst Lady in the World that anyone interested will be able to see for free, regardless of whether they take the workshops or not. The performances will be on Saturday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m. via youtube.

The last activity is the “Workshop on prevention of child violence” which will also be held on Saturday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m., which can be attended by anyone interested and will be transmitted via zoom.

In this way, the children of San Miguel de Allende will be able to enjoy this show, develop their creativity and learn about the different ways that can be used to avoid violence.
