Strengthening the strategy set by the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo inaugurated the boxing gym that is located in the “Baby Vázquez” module of the Municipal Sports Commission (Comude). This event was attended by children, youth and adults who are passionate about boxing and who practice it, as well as trainers, José Cruz González who is director of the Comude and the boxer Laura Leyva.

In this space to practice boxing, just over 1 million pesos ($1,200,000.00 pesos) was invested to place quality equipment and be a space that allows the development of the skills of this sport; which will be open from Monday to Friday from 7 to 10 in the morning and from 5 in the afternoon to 10 at night.

The boxer Laura Leyva gave a message to the attendees in which she recognized the vision of the municipal president: “First of all I want to congratulate the whole team that was part of doing this, the initiative that Mauricio had in creating a space for us, because I think that many of us struggle sometimes in our space in our worthy place where we can train or perform this activity that we like so much. This space will be open and all San Miguel athletes will be welcome, even those who are not athletes and non-Sanmiguelenses. The truth is exciting to see so many people who are passionate about this sport; The truth a few years ago was not the same, there were not so many young people, so much movement; I think it has been a work of years and we return to the good experiences. Thank you very much, welcome and congratulations on everything that made this space possible.”

For his part, Mauricio Trejo recognized the importance of boxing in the development of his family and said: “Today without a doubt will be one of the most satisfactory openings for me, inaugurating a boxing space, for me it has a very different meaning because my dad who just turned 87 was champion of the “golden gloves”, My dad is a civil engineer thanks to boxing; Because for boxing he had a scholarship in high school, then in high school and then in the Polytechnic, nothing more than he did not want to be a professional, he won the Golden Gloves and already dedicated himself to finishing his thesis. But in my house we are boxing lovers and the photo I just took with my dad and my brothers this Christmas, it was really with the boxing position because thanks to boxing is how my family got ahead. ”

Similarly, the municipal president recognized the project that is in the San Rafael neighborhood and said: “I knew that those that come red are a very important project of the San Rafa; San Rafa, like many colonies, has very entertaining, very brave boys and girls and boxing will generate self-esteem, which is very necessary for life.”

Likewise, Mauricio Trejo invited young people to get out of the box, be disruptive and practice a sport, since sports disciplines help them control themselves, to be better in any area during their lives and highlighted the commitment that their administration has with sport, pointing out some projects that come as the Olympic pool, the new sports unit that will allow social, personal and physical development in San Miguel de Allende.

This is how Mauricio Trejo lived with the young people and children who practice boxing and recognized the great role that women have played in this sport: “today it is women who are putting the name San Miguel high in boxing, we have just had a delegation that faced Canada; Here we have a colleague who just debuted as a professional a month ago.”
