New Secretary of Citizen Security Sworn In

Andrei Asís García Irazaba was sworn in as the new Secretary of Citizen Security, in an act that emphasized the commitment to the protection of the city’s inhabitants.

García Irazaba has an academic background, as a lawyer graduated from the Universidad Santa Fe and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Policy from the Public Security Training Institute of the State of Guanajuato. In addition; and has accumulated professional experience in the field of security and public administration.

During the current Municipal Administration 2021 – 2024, he held roles in the SSC, including dispatch manager, undersecretary and director of the Professional Police Career Service. Previously, he held responsibilities in the Municipality of Guanajuato in various areas related to law enforcement and public administration.

García Irazaba’s appointment came after the official resignation of the previous Secretary of Citizen Security, Gabriel Arturo Yáñez Saldaña, for health reasons, in accordance with the Municipal Organic Law for the State of Guanajuato.

In addition to the new Secretary of Citizen Security, in the same session of the City Council, Sergio Manuel Rangel Tovar was sworn in as the new secretary of the Municipal Institute of Youth Care (Imajsma), who will assume the position on an interim basis.
