Living new experiences through the senses will be the reason for the new San Miguel de Allende Book Festival 2022.

This first edition of this free and multicultural event will bring together readers with booksellers, mediators, creators, and lovers of literature for a full week, starting next Wednesday, June 15 until the following Wednesday, June 22 at the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” of the Instituto Nacional de las Bellas Artes y la Literatura (Inbal).

“Reading is not only the basic concept of reading books but everything is read: painting, the landscapes of the show and in this meeting we will try to bring together all these different manifestations around the imagination, creation, letters, and art. It is a completely free event for both exhibitors and visitors. It is an investment directly from the Municipality, investing in culture and art is fundamental in the turbulent times we live in”, said Michelle Martinez, Deputy Director of Culture and Traditions.

The Municipal Government, through the Direction of Culture and Traditions, managed this literary encounter, which is not limited to the sale of books but is a free cultural program for the public, which adds to the traditional Book Festival or Pro-Reading Alliance, La Tertulia, the Sororas y Rebeldes collective, local writers and other organizations, to position itself within the Network of Book Fairs throughout Mexico, where the international and national Book Fairs stand out: Filminería in Mexico City, FIL in Guadalajara, Fenal de León, the one in Oaxaca, among other fairs.

The San Miguel de Allende Book Festival 2022 is a space opened by the Municipal Government in conjunction with the cultural center commonly known as “Bellas Artes”, for publishing productions in any of its forms, as well as to promote access to the largest number of people who live and visit the city to free, diverse and quality events.

“San Miguel de Allende, which has the particularity of attracting creators from all over the world. We welcome the readers of the region; children, seniors, young people, mothers readers, promoters, collectives, foreign community, and tourists, who will find a point of contact with letters, therefore, with reflection, imagination, and creativity,” added the municipal official.

This first San Miguel de Allende Book Festival coincides on respective dates with the death and birth of Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante”, eponymous insurgent hero, journalist, writer, and deputy in the Constituent Congress and liberal collaborator of the Reform Laws.

The cultural program, schedules of the night sale, inauguration, closing, and participating publishers can be consulted on the microsite of the official website of the Municipality: https://www.sanmigueldeallende.gob.mx/fiestadellibro2022; in addition, attendees can share original content on social networks with the hashtag tendency
