This Friday, May 20, the tenth CRISMA Golf Tournament will take place in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato; a tournament with a cause organized by the Vamos Mexico Foundation. Marta Sahagún, president of the foundation, gave all the details in an interview.

Under the slogan “One swing, one dream”, this year, the proceeds from the tournament will be used to equip the multi-sensory room of the Centro de Rehabilitación Integral San Miguel de Allende (CRISMA), which currently serves 250 low-income people but has a capacity for 500 patients. In this sense, the objective is also to achieve a “full center,” said Sahagún.

“What we want is for it to be a full center because, sadly, the need exists. We serve patients of all ages who need physical or neurological rehabilitation,” he reported.

    About the CRISMA golf tournament
The format of the tenth CRISMA Golf Tournament is Foursome to Go-Go with handicap and will be played on the greens at Ventanas de San Miguel Golf & Resort. Although there are few places left, there are still a few days left to complete the registration through the website torneocrisma.com; the quota is for 120 players who can be grouped into men’s, women’s, and mixed teams.

The donation is 6,500 pesos for men and 3,500 pesos for women. There are more than 2 million pesos in prizes, including a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a late model Volvo car, and an all-inclusive stay for five days and four nights in Cancun, among others. There will also be raffles with other prizes.

The special guest of this tenth edition is Paola Pavón, the only woman golfer who has qualified in a Mexican Golf Open after 59 editions made up only by men.

“Our ambassador is still Lorena Ochoa, but on this occasion, she cannot come; that is why she made it possible for us to invite the great golfer Paola Pavón,” said the former first lady.

The day will begin at 6 a.m. with registration and breakfast for the players; there will be a tour of the greens with the hosts and the special guest, as well as an awards cocktail.

Another attraction is that there will be five oasis around the course and among the gastronomic offer will be gorditas typical of San Miguel de Allende, which has already become a tradition for the participants.

This sporting event has acquired an international flavor with the participation of members of the YPO from California, USA. Participants from Monterrey, Mexico City, and other municipalities in Guanajuato also participate.

He also emphasized that it is thanks to the support of the sponsors who join the cause, that year after year the objectives of the tournament are achieved.

“There is no way a tournament of this level could come out with only the inscriptions; with the expenses involved, without the participation of the sponsors, it would simply be impossible. The sponsors and the players make this tournament possible.”

    Results of the ninth edition
In the ninth edition, the proceeds were used to put into operation the therapeutic aquatic tank which, according to Marta Sahagún, is the largest in Mexico and which to date has provided 3,500 rehabilitation sessions.

She also took the opportunity to point out that Fundación Vamos México has received the transparency award from the Mexican Philanthropy Center. “For us, accountability is a conviction much more than a commitment,” he added.

Finally, he said that at CRISMA there is a project to offer extended stays at the center so that patients can make faster progress in their recovery.
