The night of Friday, June 18, the community “Cerritos” in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato, received numerous people, the followers of this famous group from the state of Zacatecas, gathered hundreds of followers who came from different communities in San Miguel de Allende, even young people from the state of Querétaro attended this event. During the course of Friday, June 18, some members of Los Elegantes de Jerez, through social networks, informed that they were already setting up the stage for the big dance at night.

No one imagined that after the dance and on their way back to their places of origin, a group of young people would suffer a fatal accident.

The emergency services of the state of Querétaro were alerted of a serious accident near the community of “La Monja”, on the federal highway that connects the municipalities of San Miguel de Allende and Santa Rosa Jauregui, just 500 meters from the border of the states of Querétaro and Guanajuato.

Emergency services quickly moved to the place of reference and when they arrived the scene was shocking: the bodies of 7 people were scattered on the road, one more was still alive, immediately rescuers and paramedics stabilized the survivor and put him on a stretcher, once in the ambulance, they proceeded to transfer him urgently to a hospital to receive more detailed care, the person was serious, but was alive, the age of the injured ranged between 13 and 24 years.

Extra official sources indicated that the injured belonged to the communities of “Loma del Chino”, “Ventura” and “Palo Dulce”, communities belonging to the state of Querétaro, it was also said that they were all traveling onboard a navy blue CHEVROLET pickup truck, which had license plates from the state of Querétaro.

The federal highway was closed for several hours, the atmosphere was desolate, the staff of the Prosecutor’s Office and experts conducted the lifting of all kinds of evidence that serve to clarify the mechanics of the facts and clarify the responsibility of this unfortunate event.

Already with the light of day, in the place could be seen some boots, tennis shoes, clothes, segments of the truck and the signs that made the authorities, possibly these signs corresponded to the position in which the bodies were left, also the news team of TV INDEPENDENCIA we could see that in the vicinity of the accident there were cans of beer, even were still an unconsumed beer, This hypothetically indicates that the occupants of the truck were consuming intoxicating beverages at the time of the accident, unofficial information indicated that the truck, once it passed the limits of Guanajuato and a few meters away, already in the state of Querétaro, took a curve, invaded the oncoming lane and collided with a trailer that was traveling in the direction of Querétaro towards San Miguel de Allende.

This accident leaves sadness, desolation, melancholy, and an emptiness in the families that will never be filled. We ask God to send resignation to the family and friends, and above all to send strength to their mothers, especially to their fathers in this unfortunate accident that occurred just a few hours before celebrating “Father’s Day” in Mexico.
