The modernization, conservation, reconstruction and expansion of the San Miguel de Allende – Dolores Hidalgo federal highway is still scheduled so that in September it will be possible to speed up travel along the road that joins two colonial cities with a dominant tourist vocation.
In the specific section of Libertad Boulevard, intervention works will be carried out in an extension of 30.7 kilometers, as part of the state investment that amounts to 3,025,583,000 pesos.
From being a two-lane highway in insufficient conditions for vehicles that circulate there, it will become a four-lane boulevard, two in each direction of traffic and paved with hydraulic concrete that has a longer life and lower maintenance cost.
This section of Federal Highway 51 will be intervened by the State and will facilitate mobility in the area to connect and develop San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo, with greater road safety and shorter travel times.
The construction is considered the most important road infrastructure work in the current state administration and with its modernization, the tourist activity of these two colonial cities will be strengthened, since this road will be faster, more comfortable and safer for the movement of national and foreign visitors who enjoy its tourist attractions.
In the same way, it benefits the families of both populations who constantly travel from one to the other, as well as thousands of inhabitants of the rural communities that are located along this boulevard,” reported the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Mobility of Guanajuato.
The execution of this project is in charge of the renowned company VISE, S.A. de C.V, began on October 23, 2023 and is expected to be completed by September 15 of this year.
Currently, the works are not affecting vehicular circulation because the work is mainly on the banks, including the removal of garbage, grass and branches, as well as the removal of dirt and sand, which is carried out with heavy machinery.
