Tarcisio Rodríguez Martínez, head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Connectivity, and Mobility (SICOM) shared that they expect the Cieneguita bridge to be completed in 3 months.

The work, which started on April 1, 2021, and was planned to be completed in 7 months (October 2021), was left half completed and a section was pending, which caused a car to fall into the void on June 4 after the signs were removed.

The announced investment was $83 million pesos.

However, the Secretary of Infrastructure said that the non-completion of the work was due to the fact that the first bidding process for the construction of the Cieneguita bridge in San Miguel de Allende was declared void since the companies that participated did not comply with the terms of their proposals.

He said that it is expected to be awarded next week in order to restart the works and in a term of approximately 3 months the construction could be concluded. An investment of $9 million will be made to conclude this part of the work.

He stated that it would be necessary to provide support and finish the finishes in order to be able to open the bridge to traffic.
