Guanajuato’s handicrafts, hats, and footwear are already being sold in the European market, German companies are buying them in large quantities so that their inhabitants can purchase them and enjoy showing off very Mexican products.

The Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE) linked Guanajuato companies from the Handicrafts and Fashion sectors to export to the German market, thanks to the acquisition and development of a commercial agenda with the German company Fischer’s GmbH, which has 20 physical stores in different cities in Germany, the largest store being the one located in the city of Frankfurt.

The international connection began when a tile company from Guanajuato, located in Dolores Hidalgo, contacted COFOCE because it had German buyers looking for several typical Mexican products, especially Mexican handicrafts.

The buyers, Coral and Udo Fischer, owners and founders of Fischer’s GmbH already knew the country and were interested in Guanajuato because they learned that the state is a manufacturer and exporter of these handcrafted products that originate from the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo. Therefore, they focused on the entire region to look for items for their stores that stood out for being handmade and from Mexico, since they are looking to fill their shelves with international products.

Thus, the opportunity arose for them to visit Guanajuato and present to them the exportable offer of the State, both in the handicraft and footwear sectors.

Some companies have already sent their products there, among them Artesanías Massiel, Chiles y Chiles, Arte y Decoración Yáñez, Procesos Cerámicos, Sergio Estrada Jimenez, Gloria Laura Manzano, Yasmín Manzano, Gabriela Espinoza Mejía and Rocio Pindter; who send their products together every 6 months through a consolidated container to Germany.

These handicraft companies have begun the process of exporting to Germany, which is opening this market for Guanajuato. In addition, the buyers were interested in the footwear sector, which is so important in the region, so this linkage was extended to the Guanajuato industry.

COFOCE followed up with the companies to provide them with advice on export documentation, even when they already had previous experience, these actions were carried out to reach this new European market.

If you are interested in learning more about the linkage work for Guanajuato companies or the opportunities your company could have to start exporting your products, contact COFOCE, their WhatsApp is +52 1 477 722 7362.
