With the official inauguration of the Festival de las Artes San Miguel de Allende (Fasma), the celebration of culture and the arts began in this World Heritage City.

From the south square of the Main Garden and before hundreds of families present, this new festival was born, which encompasses the expressions of more than 25 social organizations that, hand in hand with the Municipal Government headed by President Mauricio Trejo and the State Government, will fill the streets and emblematic venues of this city, with more than 70 public events.

During the opening ceremony and on behalf of the municipal president, the director of Economic Development, International Relations, and NGOs, Tania Castillo, made the opening remarks and highlighted the union of the artistic and cultural guilds, so that San Miguel de Allende continues to inspire its people, its tourists, its visitors and makes Mexico and the world beat.

“On behalf of Mr. Mauricio Trejo Pureco, Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, we want to welcome all of you, we want to thank the more than 20 organizations that joined together with the Municipality, to make this first edition. This festival is for you, where for 10 days, you will be able to enjoy all the art we have for you,” said Castillo de la Peña, who gave way to the presentation of Andrea Brook and her performance Sonic Butterfly Show.

For his part, Eduardo Adame Goddard, president of the Casa Europa México Foundation in San Miguel de Allende, emphasized the support of the Municipal Government for Fasma to be born as a festival that is an example of the unity of the artistic-cultural community with the cosmopolitan population of San Miguel.

“In these times of much polarization it is interesting how the 27 organizations that are already part of this festival have united, we have realized that united we can do something great and ourselves be greater. We thank the municipality of San Miguel de Allende for all the support it is giving us, it is giving us publicity, promotion, venues to celebrate this, and shows like the one we are experiencing today.”

The Festival de las Artes San Miguel de Allende concentrates on the work of more than 25 non-governmental organizations, with more than 70 artistic events, free or at affordable costs, from August 11 to 21.

The Fasma will have as special guests the children of San Miguel, who will be the beneficiaries of receiving all the cultural contributions offered by San Miguel, which has positioned it in the world as the American Capital of Culture and is the benchmark for culture in Mexico.

With the birth of the Festival de las Artes, endorsed by the Municipal Government, and which will be the expressive mirror of its cultural essence, San Miguel de Allende is the destination that makes Mexico and the world beat, as it is getting better every day.
