“One swing, one dream”, is the motto of the tenth edition of the Golf Tournament that the Centro de Rehabilitación Integral de San Miguel de Allende will hold on May 20 at the Las Ventanas golf course.

This center is operated by the Vamos Mexico Foundation and receives a little more than 320 patients, including children and adults, who require a second contact of care such as rehabilitation due to congenital disability or preceded by some type of vascular event.

On a visit to El Sol de León, its director Sergio Legorreta explained that “before the pandemic we received up to 700 people, now we have had to adapt to the new protocols, which we comply with perfectly and what we offer at CRISMA are comprehensive services such as psychology, speech therapy, rehabilitation for children and adults, hydrotherapy, mechanotherapy, physical agents, among others”.

Legorreta pointed out that the Vamos Mexico Foundation is in charge of subsidizing between 90 and 95 percent of the operating cost of a rehabilitation session, which is usually around 450 pesos, so patients only pay a symbolic fee of no more than 20 pesos.

“Vamos Mexico subsidizes more than 90 percent of the cost of therapy and that is why we talk about people paying almost nothing, then to reach those 400 or 450 pesos that rehabilitation costs, the foundation through these projects such as the golf tournament, helps to cover the rest of the operating expenses, apart from the fact that throughout the year there are more events that help support this cause.”

    LUXURY SPONSOR

Since its first tournament, previously known as the Ambassadors Cup, CRISMA has welcomed a godmother of international stature, none other than Lorena Ochoa from Jalisco, winner of 27 LPGA events between 2004 and 2009, and considered one of the best 50 players of all time.

“The surprise is that we always have the support and assistance of our ambassador Lorena Ochoa, from the first event she was committed to the cause, she empathized and throughout 10 years she has been accompanying us, even before the pandemic she even taught several children from CRISMA to play,” said Legorreta Martinez.

This year, the competition will be in go-go format with handicaps and all proceeds will go to support the work carried out by CRISMA. Registrations can be made at torneocrisma.com, with a cost of 6,500 pesos for men and 3,500 for women. Space is limited to 120 golfers and attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners, as well as to the hole-in-one and best yeses.
