Human beings have the peculiarity of being the only living beings on the planet that generate “garbage” or that waste that cannot be reintegrated into the environment so easily.

What we consider organic is usually the waste that we most dislike frequently discarding due to its odors or excretions, but what would happen if we told you that there is an organization in San Miguel that uses this waste to improve the planet?

SMA Compost founded by Daniela del Villar… emerged a few years ago in order to give a second life to these organic materials and transform them into something beneficial for the planet.

This waste is shared in compost, which is highly beneficial for the environment and for croplands as it makes them more fertile. With a rigorous 9-month metamorphosis process, this gestation transforms organic waste into fertilizer for the land. From an early age and in Colonia San Antonio, Myriam’s love of compost was instilled in one of those ecological workshops that are usually given to children; But such was the impression she generated on him that she incorporated it into her lifestyle and created a project that helps a large community of women as well as the environment.

Composta SMA / Composting Program for San Miguel de Allende

♦ What is it? Weekly organic waste collection service at home with buckets that returns compost every month.

♦ Where? San Miguel De Allende (service delimited to an area 8 kms from Centro.  Service available for los Frailes)

♦ How much? $ 500 pesos for registration and $ 360 monthly payment ($ 90 for each collection)

  • You can get together with friends and neighbors and share the expense.
