    The Ángela Peralta Theater is an emblematic construction of the XIX century, pride of San Miguel, which officially opened its curtain on May 20, 1873, and was baptized with the name of the Sinaloa soprano Ángela Peralta, known as “El Ruiseñor Mexicano”, who was immortalized with her performance at the premiere of this place and today, with her name, her memory is honored.

    Since then “El Angela” has been the venue, it reflects the essence of San Miguel, its movement, colors, textures, and expressions; the pain of its people, and the euphoria of a people who, for generations, have gathered their spirit under its roof.

    On its 149th anniversary, the Ángela Peralta Theater commemorated another anniversary with a cultural program, composed of opera, popular music, dance, and theater, presented by an international and local lineup throughout a week of special performances free and open to the public.

    The show Mexico: Más Allá del Folklor delighted attendees, as did local artists from the Casa de la Cultura; in addition, the Spanish Mar Giménez, who captivated the audience with her compositions and interpretations on piano and voice; in theater, actress Samanta Castillo performed the monologue Me llaman Lupe in which she reflected the last moments in the life of a Cuban artist; Among these celebrations was an opera walk called Desfile y Ensamble de Cuerdas, where a soprano, who emulated the figure of Ángela Peralta, performed several pieces through the streets of the historic center, to return to the theater and continue with a musical tribute and close with a wine of honor.

    Being the most important cultural precinct of the city, the Ángela Peralta Theater is an intimate and important space for the society of San Miguel, in addition, it is one of the buildings listed as Heritage, so it has constantly undergone restorations to maintain its classic style, full of harmony, simplicity and good architectural taste.
