Candelaria Fair promotes artistic and cultural expression

    In addition to the local economy with the traditional sale of flowers, the ‘Feria de la Candelaria’ will promote the artistic and cultural expressions of the people of San Miguel.

    During the 15 days of the 66th edition of this traditional event, from Friday, January 28th through February 11th, the Benito Juarez Park will once again be its host and will also be a public forum for a cultural program, organized by the departments of Culture and Traditions, as well as Environment and Sustainability.

    In keeping with the essence of San Miguel and its roots, there will be performances of pre-Hispanic traditions such as the Vigil of the Holy Cross in Benito Juárez Park, with the presentation of the Concheros del Valle del Maíz, as well as the Blessing of plants and premises, and the exchange of seeds.

    To liven up the stay of customers and visiting families, there will be artistic presentations of folkloric ballet, traditional dance, popular, regional, and pre-Hispanic music, jazz, mariachi, children’s choir, symphony orchestra, theater, clown show, and other artistic expressions.

    In addition to these traditional activities, there will be technical workshops specialized in the use and management of food, endemic plants, and home gardens.

    In addition to this program of activities, there will also be officially opening and closing ceremonies, with the presence of the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, and other municipal authorities.

    There will be a permanent food area, where traditional and popular food options will be offered, as well as original varieties of typical dishes.

    All these events will have the sanitary measures corresponding to the epidemiological traffic light determined by the state and federal health authorities; in favor of prevention, at each access point there will be sanitary filters, the use of masks is mandatory for customers and exhibitors; in addition, the exhibition of flowers, as well as the artistic and cultural activities, will be outdoors.

    For the convenience of attendees, the parking lot ‘El Cardo’ will be free, as it was arranged by the Municipality, for the benefit of the people and exhibitors.
