There are also screenings in as Cines Aldama (SMA), Teatro Angela Peralta (SMA), Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez – El Nigromante (SMA), the Teatro Santa Ana (SMA), Galería Kunsthaus Santa Fe (SMA), the Auditorio del Estado (GTO) and the Teatro Principal (GTO).

Competitive categories for short films and features include International Fiction, Mexican Fiction, International Documentary, Mexican Documentary, Experimental, Animation, Virtual Reality and Guanajuato (for local productions). Each category award will be decided by an international jury of film industry professionals. Prizes include trophies, cash awards, or materials and services granted by festival sponsors, such as post-production services and equipment. Awards for Best Short Fiction, Best Short Documentary and Best Short Animation will qualify for consideration in the Short Film categories of the annual Academy Awards® (Oscars).

Sarah Hoch, founder and Executive Director of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), shared more about this year’s Festival. The GIFF provides many opportunities for the exhibition and appreciation of films and rewards quality so that artists can continue producing. At the same time, GIFF brings newcomers alongside the industry’s most seasoned professionals in a very open and accessible environment. GIFF is considered by the specialized press and international institutions of the film industry, as one of the most important of its kind worldwide.
