    Galeria San Francisco, located in the popular Fabrica La Aurora, is pleased to announce they have been admitted and recognized as an institution by the International Watercolor and Global Art Society SMA (IWS Galeria San Francisco SMA). The International Watercolor Society has more than 100 branches around the world.

     

    The San Miguel de Allende affiliate is offering more than a dozen benefits, including discounts on gallery events and art supplies, liaisons with other branches of the IWS around the world, and more. The mission of the International Watercolor and Globe Art Society SMA is to collaborate with artists, aspiring artists, art supporters and to contribute to the artistic culture of San Miguel de Allende.

     

    Susan Santiago, owner and founder of the Galeria San Francisco, Galeria artist, Linda Whynman and artist, Lorie Topinka, worked together to bring IWS to San Miguel. They are initiating a membership drive starting immediately and culminating with a Welcome Membership Event at the Galeria in the spring of 2022.

     

    Yearly membership is $35 per person and includes the opportunity to participate in two juried exhibits per year at the Galeria San Francisco. Members will receive discounts on upcoming gallery events, workshops and on all fine art purchases and materials. Members will be invited to participate in informal art groups and will receive priority notice for all visiting artist workshops, and demonstrations. IWS Members will be able to display and sell their art on a designated San Miguel IWS Facebook page and will receive notifications from IWS regarding opportunities for international competitions, exhibits, and workshops.

     

    Immediately on the horizon for members is the creation of a plein air watercolor group. Meeting monthly we will enjoy the fellowship of other artists and the inspiration of plein air painting.     Members are welcome to join an accordion journaling group. Some meetings will be held in SMA for local members and zoom meetings for others. Contact Lorie Topinka for details: topinka.lorie@gmail.com

     

     

     

    Future plans include a three-day National Plein Air Festival in 2022 in San Miguel.

     

    Founder Susan Santiago finds the Galeria a perfect home for this new organization. “Our location in the beautiful Fabrica La Aurora is a major tourist destination for all visitors who come to this World Heritage City. Now we are welcoming all artists and art supporters to consider participating in this important way to create and share your passion with others.”

     

    “I feel it is time to spotlight San Miguel and its wonderful arts community. We are a conduit to events and programs all over the world. The Plein Air Festival in 2022 will bring artists from all over Mexico to enjoy and paint the great beauty of San Miguel.” says Whynman.
