The Guanajuato International Film Festival presents the image of its 26th edition, created with Artificial Intelligence and guided by the graphic artist Analí Jaramillo.

During the GIFF, the contributions, horizons, and threats of this new technology will be discussed.

GIFF will be held in León, San Miguel de Allende, and Irapuato from July 20 to 31.

In its newest edition, the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) will address the challenges and opportunities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents for the creative industries, mainly the audiovisual. These new technologies promise to revolutionize the way we work, live, and even think. Faithful to our avant-garde spirit, AI will be used in all areas of the Festival (editorial, events, accreditations, conferences, etc.). As a sample of the new paths that are opening up to our creativity, we present this year’s official image, designed with AI and guided by the graphic artist Analí Jaramillo.

The ethical and intellectual dilemmas caused by AI are not futuristic issues. Like all cutting-edge technology, AI offers us both new capabilities and new threats. Its disruptive power is present here right now. This year, GIFF will put on the table the most complicated questions on issues such as intellectual property, decision-making, privacy, homogenization of content, and updating legislation: all urgent issues to responsibly assimilate the new skills offered by the contemporary world and ignite creative modes which we have not seen so far.

During the Festival, which will take place from July 20 to 31, 2023, the international film community gathered in Guanajuato will have the opportunity to analyze in depth the consequences—both predictable and unpredictable—that the most recent digital revolution brings with it.

In this way, GIFF presents to its public and guests an event that is up to the challenges and questions our era faces. The future of cinema and the creative industries has caught up with us. The relationship between the machine and man is complicated. Meanwhile, GIFF is moving towards this version of the future with energy invested in innovation and the far-reaching perspectives that have always characterized us.
