  • SM Playreaders Invites You to Come Along…

You really don’t want to miss our October offering which is “Visiting Mr. Green” by Jeff Baron.

This play has an endearing and captivating charm, and there’s almost something for everyone. Mr. Green, an elderly, retired dry cleaner, wanders into New York traffic and is almost hit by a car driven by Ross Gardiner, a young corporate executive. For reckless driving the young man is sentenced to community service in which he must help the recent widower once a week for six months.

When they first meet, there is little in common between these two characters at opposite ends of the age spectrum. Ross can’t understand how Mr. Green copes without basic things like a telephone, while Mr. Green can’t see why he would want one. But, as the characters get to know each other, positions and attitudes shift.

Since its year-long run in New York City starring Eli Wallach, there have been over 600 productions in 52 countries. It’s obviously a play with universal appeal.

Marthe Fraser is directing well known playreader Henry Vermillion as Mr. Green, and Andrew McGill, new to Playreaders, will make his debut as Ross.

Please come join the SM Playreaders for an evening of feel-good entertainment.
