NOTEIn order to reopen safely, the Playhouse has been stripped down to 65 seats. The first two rows of each section are for people who have been vaccinated, and face masks are required for ALL attendees.

Parnassus Project – our best local actors reading great works of short fiction – was created one year ago, during the depths of the Covid lockdown, as a podcast. Recorded without an audience, the program became instantly popular, with hundreds of listeners on smapodcast.com, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms.

At long last, we are now ready to record our Parnassus Project actors with live audiences – and live music.

Parnassus Project Live! will mark the reopening of the San Miguel Playhouse, which has been closed to the public since March 2020.

There will be two stories in English and two in Spanish, with supertitles to translate those stories from one language to the other. In English: Anton Chekhov’s hilarious “A Drama,” read by Phoebe Greyson; and Guy de Maupassant’s gripping tale of the Franco-Prussian War, “Mademoiselle Fifi,” read by Valérie Fortin. In Spanish: Ginna Acosta interprets “Qué Vergüenza” (“Humiliation”), a masterful story by Chilean writer Paulina Flores; and Pepe Homs will perform Horacio Quiroga’s classic tale of horror, “El Almohadón de Plumas” (“The Feather Pillow”).
