St. Joseph Celebrations
8PM Saturday the 22ndSunday 23rd
The celebrations for the powerful saint, Joseph, continue through the weekend. St. Joseph is the most powerful as other saints, like apostles, were pals while other saints worshiped Jesus. Joseph is Jesus’ step-father. The nickname for Jose, Pepe, comes from the two words for “adoptive father”. Most men in town have the first name Jose.
Saturday night is a mojiganga parade while fireworks begin and end Sunday. In between is music, dancing, food all day long. Most activities center around the St. Joseph on the Mountain church (across from the Balcones) while others will be at the Oratorio, the market and expect processions around the St. Joseph church in Obraje.
Happy Feast Day, Josephs, Joses, Pepas, Jos, Joeys, Pepes and others!
