    CASITA LINDA and MIVIDA WELCOME
    ENCHANTING ARTIST TO SAN MIGUEL

On March 11, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Casita Linda and Chef Greta of MiVida Restaurant will welcome Hermann Orduna to San Miguel. That evening, Mr. Orduna will present a showing of his work at MiVida (Hernandez Macias 97) during an event that will introduce this accomplished, world-class artist to our community while raising funds for Casita Linda’s important, ongoing work.

Mr. Orduna comes to this event from his home in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the location of his principal gallery. He also maintains a gallery in Oaxaca, where he is in residence part of each year. As the examples on this page illustrate, his work is bright, intriguing, complex, compelling, a bit whimsical, and entirely captivating.

A native of Mexico City, he received his training from many institutions, including the National Institute of Fine Arts in both Michoacán and Oaxaca, the University of Guanajuato, the National School of Fine Arts of UNAM in Mexico City, and the workshop of Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca. His work has been featured in exhibitions in many places in Mexico and Europe, including Mexico City, Puebla, London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Warsaw, and Vienna. He draws his inspiration from his early life in Mexico, his ten years of residence in Barcelona, and his current lives in both Oaxaca and Palma de Mallorca.

Mr. Orduna is a prolific artist, and many of his works will be available at the event, along with catalogues of his additional available works. Among his current projects is the illustration of an English-Spanish bilingual children’s book, created in conjunction with an author from the United States, which is a lovely and insightful treatment of the value that lies within each of us. The book is not expected to be available at the time of this event, but look for it in the near future.

Casita Linda, in collaboration with MiVida, is excited to introduce this artist to San Miguel and to host this initial showing in our wonderful community, which appreciates art and creativity like few others. The donation of $200 pesos will be used in its entirety to fund Casita Linda’s work, and attendees will enjoy the showing, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and an opportunity to visit with the artist. A cash bar also will be available.

Mr. Orduna is creating a special work for Casita Linda, reflecting the spirit and energy of the organization and its many generous supporters, which will be available for viewing at the event and will be auctioned at Casita Linda’s annual fundraiser , The Mysteries of the Orient, on Oct. 16.. The artist also has agreed to donate to Casita Linda a portion of all sale proceeds from the evening.

This will be a great opportunity to mingle, learn, and be stimulated, all while supporting a great cause. It also will be a wonderful chance for our community to meet an artist who has enchanted Mexico and much of Europe with his eye, technique, imagination, and talent.
