Iverna and Colectivo 41 present:

The Bad Taste of Lechedevirgen Trimegisto is an exhibition of drawings that recover emblematic characters from pop-trash culture, horror movies, underground and junk television from the 90’s. An elegant kitsh buffet that shows feathered fighters, drag queens that eat feces, supervillains, beings from another planet, demonic possessions, inflatable dolls, cannibals and other creepy spooky.

The series consists of drawings of the idols admired by the artist, who marked his childhood and his cultural background, made as a hobby so as not to lose his head during a period of 100 days of forced isolation, at the stage of recovery after renal transplantation which brought him back to life in 2017.

These rare pieces will be exposed to the public on November 29, starting at 5:00 p.m. in Collective 41 (Road Station #10 Third Floor) Free entry.

About the artist:

Felipe Osornio, Lechedevirgen Trimegisto (Qro., Mexico, 1991), is a visual and performance artist known for an expanded artistic practice with a wide range of hybrid projects. It has established itself as one of the referents of the geopolitical and decolonial turn of the Queer, being representative of Cuir Art and Postpornography in Latin America. It takes its artistic name from alchemy and compares art to magic due to its transformative properties. Master in Contemporary Art and Visual Culture from the Autonomous University of Querétaro UAQ where he works as a teacher of the Master’s Degree in Gender Studies in the subject “Gender and Performance”, he is also a member of the “Network Body” research network of the Council National for Science and Technology CONACYT. He is a beneficiary of the Young Creators Program of the National Fund for Culture and Arts FONCA 2019-2020 and has presented his work in Europe, Mexico, Canada and the United States.

El Mal Gusto de Lechedevirgen Trimegisto es una exhibición de dibujos que recuperan a personajes emblemáticos de la cultura pop-trash, el cine de terror, el underground y la televisión basura de los 90´s. Un elegante buffet kitsh que muestra luchadores empeluchados, drag queens que comen excrementos, supervillanos, seres de otro planeta, posesiones demoniacas, muñecas inflables, caníbales y otros espeluznantes esperpentos.

La serie se compone de dibujos de los ídolos admirados por el artista, quienes marcaron su infancia y su background cultural, realizados como hobbie para no perder la cabeza durante un periodo de 100 días de aislamiento forzado, en la etapa de recuperación posterior al trasplante renal que le devolvió la vida en 2017.

Estas raras piezas se expondrán al público el 29 de noviembre, a partir de las 17:00 hrs. en Colectivo 41 (Calzada la Estación #10 Tercer Piso) San Miguel de Allende. Entrada libre.

Acerca del artista:

Felipe Osornio, Lechedevirgen Trimegisto (Qro., México, 1991), es un artista visual y de performance conocido por una práctica artística expandida con un amplio abanico de proyectos híbridos. Se ha consolidado como uno de los referentes del giro geopolítico y decolonial de lo Queer, siendo representante del Arte Cuir y la Pospornografía en Latinoamérica. Toma su nombre artístico de la alquimia y compara el arte a la magia debido sus propiedades transformadoras. Maestro en Arte Contemporáneo y Cultura Visual por la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro UAQ dónde se desempeña como docente de la Maestría en Estudios de Género en la asignatura “Género y Performance”, así mismo es miembro de “Cuerpo en Red” red de investigación del Consejo Nacional para la Ciencia y la Tecnología CONACYT. Es beneficiario del Programa Jóvenes Creadores del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes FONCA 2019-2020 y ha presentado su trabajo en Europa, México, Canadá y Estados Unidos.

Colectivo 41, founded in 2012, is an innovative youth-led program in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico focused on LGBT rights. Through peer education our team of youth leaders advocates for these issues in local schools, organizations, government and rural communities. The core of Colectivo 41’s work is about creating dialogue amongst youth and the larger community about LGBT identities, HIV, and sexuality so that we can live and love without fear of violence. Colectivo 41 is the ONLY local resource for LGBT individuals in San Miguel de Allende. This campaign is about building our program so that we can expand activities and reach more young people, especially LGBT youth, andlet them know that they’re not alone! Misión: Fortalecer la comunidad LGBT de San Miguel de Allende para ser agentes de cambio mediante su sensibilización, movilización y el ejercicio del poder colectivo con diversas acciones, generando visibilidad, espacio seguro y un nuevo compromiso por la justicia social en México. Visión: Ser un referente en la defensa de los derechos de la comunidad LGBT en el estado de Guanajuato, y convertirse en un espacio de intercambio de conocimientos, ideas y opiniones que permita avanzar en el respeto hacia la diversidad sexual y todos los temas relacionados.
