  • Mark your calendar! “BACK TO LIFE” will be held
Monday, November 8th from 5 to 8 pm. at Casa de la Noche
    Organos 19 , Centro
    1/2 block off Hernandez Macias.

It’s time to celebrate the quality of life we enjoy in our high desert paradise again!

Casa de la Noche, home to the Bordello Galeria, is hosting internationally recognized Plein Air painter, Dawn Lundquist. This will be a special treat for artists and art lovers, with wine, refreshments and lite antojitos, and even a little game to play.

The spacious patios and  large open common rooms of this historic building from the days when ladies of the night entertained, will be the setting  for the debut exhibit of one of our newest settlers to the San Miguel art world.

The featured artist for this show is recently transplanted from the Island of Kauai. Dawn (aka Aurora) Lundquist has dreamed of living in the Pueblo Magico of San Miguel for at least thirty years. However, a busy art career themed in Tropical Paradise terms kept her from this vision until now. Finally, the opportunity came disguised as a problem, and her doctor advised that she move to a dry climate. And, as she says, VOILA! “Mexico here I come!”

Dawn has been a sought after painting teacher and favorite artist in Hawaii since 1989, having lived  on  three of the  paradisiacal Hawaiian Islands, Maui, The Big Island, and until recently, Kauai. While being represented by numerous fine art galleries, owning a gallery herself, and being the featured  painter for prestigious hotels and resorts has been exciting, she now is eager to begin her adventures in Magical San Miguel.

After years of painting her signature turquoise surf and foam, swaying palms, blue lagoons, emerald mountains, tropical sunsets and volcanic fury. Dawn’s focus is morphing to the diverse deserts of Agave, Nopal and Organos cactus and  San Miguel’s cherished colonial architecture. Though still actively serving her Hawaiian collectors, Dawn now  paints daily in and about San Miguel, and delights in  Plein Air painting trips with friends to the bucolic countryside, vineyards, and ranches near the city.

In order to enjoy painting with like-minded artists here in SMA , Dawn is forming an informal painters group for Plein Air (French term “in the fresh air”) adventures. All interested are welcome, and invited to inquire at Dawn@lundquiststudios.com or google Dawn Lundquist for her web site.

As a special treat, guests at this opening reception will have an opportunity to win a spot in class with Dawn or a small work from her San Miguel collection. Just Identify a few of the scenes from her works on display and you’ll have a chance to win!

So come celebrate a unique evening, bring friends, enjoy the San Miguel spirit, and meet Dawn Lundquist!
