  • For This Show, They Will Be Doing Songs By Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, George Jones, Bono, And More!

A group of ex-pat American and Canadian musicians who play numerous venues in San Miguel de Allende will be singing the praises and perils of Love as a benefit for la Biblioteca on February 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the Teatro Santa Ana. Not your typical collection of classic love songs, rather these artists choose a parallax look at Romance, including original compositions, heartbreak ballads and songs of what might have been. Too late for Valentines Day, yes, but never to late to celebrate the ties that bind.

    Marc Taylor

When Marc was twelve he first heard the Kingston Trio. He knew right away that they were supposed to be a quartet and they were looking for him. He’s been a folksinger, songwriter and teacher ever since. He and his wife Catherine form a duet and perform around San Miguel and have lived here on and off for 20 years.

    Roger Hill

Roger began playing music with his father’s band where he grew up in the Nebraska Panhandle. Starting with bass guitar, he added acoustic guitar, Hawaaian steel guitar and his current main instrument, the Dobro, and has played in numerous bands including rock and roll, country and bluegrass styles. More recently, Roger has combined his love of tools with his creative vision to produce found metal object sculptures.

    Stephen Russell

Singer-songwriter and guitarist originally from Western Pennsylvania and way Western New York State who now makes his home in one of the Eastern-most towns in Massachusetts. Influences range from Gilbert and Sullivan to traditional folk to classic Rock to Katy Perry.   He’s also a Librarian by training, a bibliophile by upbringing and a huge fan of La Biblioteca where he sometimes volunteers.

    Rob Ramsey

Rob Ramsey, a native Texan now living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, is a former American Song Festival Lyric Competition grand prize winner, UK Songwriting Contest semi-finalist, and Billboard Top 100 Country songwriter.

    ‘Beautiful Luck’

Indie Folk harmony singing duo from Victoria BC. Sue Black (vocal, guitar) and Carl Lefebvre (vocal, ukuleles) have been playing together for 7 years in and around Victoria and Vancouver Island. This is their fourth visit to San Miguel de Allende and they stay longer each time.

Beautiful Luck’s repertoire covers a variety of genres including roots, country, pop, and blues. In recent years they have incorporated more original compositions into their set lists and have recorded a seven song EP entitled ‘Moonwish’ which features six original songs. They pride themselves on choosing an eclectic mix of harmony inspired songs. From Blue Rodeo to Dan Hicks, to the Sons of Pioneers, to Kathleen Edwards they play in a variety of tempos and styles; there is something for everyone when Beautiful Luck performs

    Bill Kavanagh

Following a two-week vacation to San Miguel De Allende in March 2019 where they fell utterly in love with everything about it, singer-songwriter, recording engineer, producer, guitarist, and bass guitarist Bill Kavanagh closed his Chicago recording studio in September of the same year and moved that October with his wife Maria to SMA.

A mainstay for decades of the Chicago rock, folk and Americana music scenes, Bill didn’t lose any time doing the same in SMA, cofounding the short-lived but popular local classic rock band “Los Otros”, which, like so many other enterprises, fell victim to the COVID-19 shutdown as two members scattered to France and California.

The Teatro Santa Ana is an intimate 91-seat theater, located inside the Biblioteca Publica. For over 20 years, the Teatro Santa Ana has been a premiere venue for theatrical productions, musical concerts, films and conferences in Centro historico San Miguel de Allende.
