  • On Wednesday November 2 at 2 PM and 5 PM Chorale San Miguel will present a concert in observance of Day of the Dead. The concert will feature two early choral works of Mexico, Pablo Casals’ O Vos Omnes and the major work Requiem for Peace and Reconciliation by San Miguel composer Michael Hoppé. Texts reflecting on mortality and eternity by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and New England poet Emily Dickinson conclude the concert with compositions from two contemporary US composers, Matthew Lyon Hazzard and Gwyneth Walker. Tickets go on sale three weeks in advance on Tuesday Oct. 11 through BoletoCity.

Chorale San Miguel is presenting concerts in large choral format, principally Masses, Oratorios, a cappella works, and choral and orchestral compositions from four centuries. Our venue is the historic Tercera Orden in the San Francisco convent complex, dating from the early 17th century, with excellent acoustics for choral music.

The Chorale is comprised of a core group of 32 auditioned singers, of whom a significant portion are professional singers, joining forces with talented area volunteer choral singers.

Auditions will be held periodically to augment the size of the chorus according to programming and performance needs for future concerts.

The Chorale draws on local and regional participants, including orchestra musicians from regional professional orchestras in Guanajuato and Queretaro.

Artistic Director is Malcolm Halliday, with conducting roles shared with Mauro Ledesma.
