    Teatro Santa Ana

    Kent Evans was a fixture on the spoken word and experimental art scene in NYC throughout the 90’s having appeared at venues as diverse as CBGB’s, the Madison Square Garden Theater, and Nuyorican’s Poets Café. He fronted the Mexican Stoner Rock band Dust Industry and is a founding member of the Prog-Rock group Epic Fail 1893. He produced the video for Dr. Gypsy from Epic Fail’s debut album which won the the STIFF 2016 Best Music Video.

    He is the author of Malas Ondas, a semi-autobiographical novel about self-destruction throughout Latin America and A Crash Course on the Anatomy of Robots and its Soundtrack which of which Kirkus Reviews says “a clear-eyed character study emerges, brimming with warmth and sympathy”.

    His music video for Too Many Nights @ Nuyorican video won the Asians on Film 2015 Best Music Video, the Canada International Film Festival’s Rising Star Award, the Mexico International Film Festival Silver Palm, and was nominated at various other international festivals.

    Both music videos debuted at VIP events for the Guanajuato International Film Festival.

    Kent has appeared on NPR for shows including Nuestra Palabra, the Front Row, and Living Arts showcase; been reviewed and interviewed by Big Blend Magazine, the Cambridge Day, Martini Productions, and It’s Relevant; and have had creative non-fiction and opinion pieces appear in numerous national pop-culture and literary magazines and publications including YRB Magazine and Portland Book Review. Kent has been a participant in the San Miguel Writers Conference 2019, 2020, and 2021 (virtually) and the first Literary Death Match of 2019.

    In the era of the pandemic he has focused on online musical collaborations and voice acting including but not limited to narrating the feature length documentary “In the Belly of the Moon” and the San Miguel based narrative podcast “Flies in the Jar”.

     

    Gabriel Vega Nieto and Cayetano García are veterans of the Guanajuato Rock Scene. Since 2012 they have played with Kent in various endeavors including but not limited to the Spoken Word/Prog Rock project Dust Industry whose eponymous album was released in 2017.

     

    Michael Severens is the first chair cello of the Guanajuato Orchestra, frontman of the cow punk band Los Telepateticos, and frequent collaborator with Kent for the last two decades. Along with playing on Kent’s solo album soundtrack to his last novel (A Crash Course on the Anatomy of Robots), he has recorded with such acts as Tom Petty, Nina Hagen, and Hootie and the Blowfish.



    The Teatro Santa Ana is an intimate 91-seat theater, located inside the Biblioteca Publica. For over 20 years, the Teatro Santa Ana has been a premiere venue for theatrical productions, musical concerts, films and conferences in Centro historico San Miguel de Allende.
