  • As San Miguel’s footprint continues to expand, there is growing misinformation and, therefore, confusion regarding the reality of our regional water situation. Caminos de Agua (Caminos) is a local nonprofit organization with more than 10 years of experience confronting our water crisis. Part of Caminos’ mission is to provide clear and factual information about water in our city and beyond. Whether it’s by providing recent data about the overexploitation of our aquifer, test results regarding the water quality throughout our region, or potential solutions for residents and homeowners alike, our ultimate goal is to help ensure as many people as possible have access to clean water that is safe for consumption.

    Join Us to Learn More

You are invited to this free workshop on Thursday, June 30th at the Sala Quetzal in San Miguel’s Biblioteca Publica, which will be led by the Caminos de Agua team. The workshop will be provided in two separate sessions, one in English and the other in Spanish, with a duration of about one hour per session:

    ♦  English: 3:30pm – 4:30pm

    ♦  Spanish: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

This is an important opportunity to learn more about the growing water crisis that is affecting us all – including those living in urban San Miguel – and have your questions answered. The purpose of this educational and awareness-building event will be to:

♦  Update you about the current state of the water crisis in our region, specifically growing water scarcity and water contamination, and what that means for residents in the urban San Miguel area.

♦  Make you aware of how to determine the contamination levels of your water and what steps you can take to ensure your water is healthy and safe.

♦  Inform you of what your specific options are to ensure the quality of your water and how to make sure any actions you take will be properly executed.

♦  Make you aware of local providers, who we have vetted, that can help you create and install your own customized solution.

Space is limited! Capacity for this event is limited to 50 people per session on a first come, first served basis, so please register to reserve your spot today.

Caminos de Agua is a community focused, data-driven, and science-oriented non-governmental organization (NGO) based in San Miguel de Allende. We drive to empower local at-risk communities to obtain adequate supplies of safe and healthy drinking water. Today, Caminos de Agua is a team of ten full- and part-time employees, plus several graduate-level engineering and public interest interns from Engineers Without Borders UK and other universities and institutions. We’re a mix of expat residents and Mexicans, technologists and community organizers, researchers and educators, united by our concern for public health and welfare. Caminos de Agua is organized as a registered nonprofit in both the U.S. and Mexico. At Caminos de Agua, we believe that access to safe, healthy drinking water should be a fundamental human right. We help communities at risk confront challenges of water quality and scarcity through:

    1. Water monitoring 2. Education 3. Community-led solutions 4. Research and development 5. Activism
