This film focuses on the six weeks during which Charles Dickens wrote and self-published his novel with the intention of relaunching his career and, above all, raising money to maintain the lifestyle to which he had become accustomed. To achieve this, he mixed inspirations from real life with imaginary characters who appeared to him in the form of ghosts. In this way, he managed to change the traditions associated with Christmas forever and make it the celebration that is known today.

In 1843, the famous British novelist Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) is at the lowest point of his career, accumulating three novels that were unsuccessful and watching his family’s debts rise. Determined to regain his reputation, Dickens decides to write a Christmas story and self-publish it in less than two months. It is here that one of the most iconic characters of his career, Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), was born in a magical creative process that changed the way of understanding Christmas forever.

The film will be screened in English audio with Spanish subtitles.

The Teatro Santa Ana is an intimate 91-seat theater, located inside the Biblioteca Publica. For over 20 years, the Teatro Santa Ana has been a premiere venue for theatrical productions, musical concerts, films and conferences in Centro historico San Miguel de Allende.
