  • Zapatista General José Juan Reyes leads an army of revolutionaries who take over the conservative city of Cholula. The protests of the richest people in the square are not long in coming, since the insurgents have the slogan of confiscating all the wealth to support their movement. Reyes proceeds with a firm hand until he encounters great resistance from Beatriz, the daughter of the prosperous businessman Don Carlos Peñafiel. Beautiful and indomitable, Beatriz repudiates Reyes’s actions and constantly confronts him, but the general is captivated and shows her great patience. The general falls madly in love and woos her, despite the fact that she is engaged and her wedding is near. However, little by little Beatriz reciprocates the general’s feelings. The abrupt departure of the Zapatistas precipitates the fate of the couple, forced to compromise their political and family situations in order to consolidate their relationship.
