Through rust and repairs, the Vochos in San Miguel stand out and fit in at the same time. They stand out because they are seen as mobile art installations. They fit in for the same reason: they are seen as mobile art installations.

Depending on where you’re from you may know the Volkswagen Type 1 in nickname form as bug, beetle, bubble, frog, hunchback, turtle, vocho, flea or for some reason ice shaver in the Dominican Republic. The VW Bug has wonderfully infested our entire planet and has adapted to every environment it has been put in. People everywhere love their Herbies.

Mexico loves its Vochos.

No other car has embraced the curve like the VW Type 1. It’s the curves that our eyes are attracted to. It’s the curves that make vocho photos pleasing to the eye. It was made to be photographed.
