Beer and Art History: A Talk Followed by a Beer Tasting

for a very special treat on Beer and Art History:
A Talk followed by a Beer Tasting! 300 Pesos

Beer and art have a long history together, from Egyptian hieroglyphics to Hogarth, Picasso, Renoir, Manet, Dr. Seuss and many more. On Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 1-3 p.m., we will examine the artistic imagery of beer in paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and comics with representative pieces from museums and private collections all over the world – and sometimes on the bottles themselves. Raise a glass to your favorite artist!

Following the class, you are invited to the restaurant in the Instituto, Murmullo, to have a beer tasting. For those who want to join the beer tasting with our instructor (a certified beer judge), we will announce a flat fee in the next few weeks.  The optional beer tasting can be paid for on the day of the class in pesos.

Kris Butler is a lawyer by training, an exam-certified beer judge, an award-winning homebrewer, and has judged beer competitions in the U.S. and Italy. Her book, Drink Maps in Victorian Britain, is forthcoming from Bodleian Library Publishing. In spite of her love of maps, she has no sense of direction, especially after indulging in her love of beer!
