    SECURITY IS MY BUSINESS
    Manuel Zavala

“When we began Sirce Alarm Systems in 1995, we never thought that it would grow into such a big operation here in San Miguel. Who knew that house robberies would increase by so much in just a little more than two decades–here and almost everywhere?” So stated Manuel Zavala Ortiz, owner and operator of the oldest security alarm company in the city.

Lic. Zavala will be the guest speaker at Midday Rotary on Tuesday, February 5 when he will explain how the system works and answer questions about it.

The electronics engineer recently reminisced about earlier times in SMA when house robberies were rare, and assaults even more infrequent. Friends thought he was crazy when he changed the focus of Sirce from cellphones to alarm systems. Since few people thought home alarms were necessary in the 90’s. Zavala’s original clients were businesses which wanted to protect their offices and factories. Gradually, the situation changed as more expats bought second homes here. They wanted their homes secured when they were out of town, so Sirce began installing alarm systems in more and more houses.

The rest is history, as they say. His company grew from 6 employees to 20. Instead of installing one alarm system per month, his team now installs an average of 16. The company has developed a reputation for prompt service and quick police response via radio communication. With over 300 reported house robberies per year in San Miguel, there is an increasing market for such systems in both the Mexican and foreign communities here.
