Planning for Our Final Exit: The 24 Hour Association
Date, time: Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 9:00 AM
Where: San Miguel Essen
Address: Stirling Dickinson 28
The Day of the Dead has given us an opportunity to think about and fondly remember those who we hold dear and are no longer with us. There are few people, however, who find thinking about their own demise comforting. Nonetheless, we all know that our days on this earth are limited and that it behooves us to plan for our passing. For expats living in San Miguel de Allende, there is a way to plan ahead for that eventuality and to have help and support in dealing ahead of time with the particulars of Mexican law pertaining to funerals and burial.
The 24 Hour Association, founded in 1965, provides pre-arrangement services to the expat community. It is a non-profit legally registered Mexican Associacion Civil providing a prepaid plan of cremation and burial services that fully comply with Mexican law. Since it’s humble beginnings in 1965 when Admiral Alex Charlton, U.S.N. (ret) sent out a short memo to members of the foreign community, the Association has grown to around 500 members. The Association in 1999 decided it was in its best interests to be in full compliance with Mexican law and to that end was duly registered as a nonprofit Associacion Civil.
Join the Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende on Tuesday, November 13 for a presentation by Linda Cooper, Executive Director of the association. We meet Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM at the San Miguel Essen restaurant, located next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickinson. Admission is free plus there is an optional breakfast for 100 pesos. Oh, and there is plenty of nearby parking too!
